In cooperation between Heliant and the Zvezdara Primary Healthcare Centre, the project “Heliant Telemedicine for Health Centres” was successfully implemented, within the GovTech program of the Innovation Fund. The project is co-financed by the Fund, with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia, with the aim of improving healthcare and easier access to medical services, especially for children and the school population.

The solution represents an upgrade of the telemedicine system at CHC Zvezdara, which already provides support to patients with inflammatory bowel diseases through video consultations.

The introduction of the electronic telescheduler enables simple and efficient scheduling of examinations via the Internet, which further reduces the administrative burden and facilitates access to doctors, especially in remote environments. This system reduces the need for in-person visits to healthcare facilities, making healthcare more accessible and flexible.

The system is fully integrated into existing workflows and complies with the highest standards of data protection. It enables doctors to perform triage, advise on vaccination and prevention, monitor chronic diseases in children, as well as conduct follow-up examinations of mothers and young mothers, especially in clinics where specialists are not available on a daily basis.

With this project, the Zvezdara Primary Healthcare Centre confirms its commitment to the modernization of healthcare services and adaptation to the modern needs of citizens. The solution has the potential for wider application in the healthcare system throughout Serbia, and video consultations are just one of the ways in which telemedicine contributes to better and more accessible health care.

How does a telemedicine examination work?

The process begins with the patient accessing the telescanner, where he/she enters the verification data to confirm that he/she has a statement about the selected physician within the Heliant information system. After successful verification, the patient fills out a form regarding his/her health condition and makes an appointment for an examination.

The examination is scheduled within the Heliant information system, while the patient receives an email with a link to the scheduled examination. The examination itself is then performed via video call at the agreed time, which enables direct communication between the patient and the doctor.

Upon completion of the examination, the patient receives a report via email. In this way, the entire process of telemedicine examination is successfully implemented through digital information exchange and video consultation.
