In agreement with Goran Stevanović, MD/PhD, Director of the Clinic for Infectious and Tropical Diseases, and subject to the approval of Milika Ašanin, MD/PhD, Director of the Clinical Center of Serbia, Heliant has donated the system that will ensure that during the state of emergency, in addition to the Infectious Diseases Clinic all other clinics withinthe Clinical Center of Serbia are connected electronically to all seven laboratories of the Microbiology Service and among each other and with the Laboratory of Virology which is of utmost importance at this moment. They will also be able to send instructions electronically and in the same way receive results electronically. They will also be able to send instructions electronically and in the same way receive results electronically.

The Virology Laboratory, which is on the front line of the fight against Covid-19, operates within the Clinic for Infectious and Tropical Diseases of the Clinical Centre of Serbia, the center of the fight against coronavirus infection in Serbia today.

A new way of information flow, enabled by the Heliant Information System, will speed up the obtaining of results, reduce unnecessary time medical staff spends in walking to pick up the results and significantly reduce the amount of paper in circulation.

Results in the paper form not only represent an unnecessary expense but also a risk of possible spread of the Covid-19 infection.

The results will now be entered directly into the patient’s electronic health record electronically and made available to physicians, even if patients change clinics. The goal is to facilitate physicians’ work and reduce the possibility of obtaining untimely and unavailable results that are critical for determining the further course of treatment.
