Heliant continued its cooperation with the academic community by participating in the “E-Business Technologies” Summer School, organized by the Department of E-Business at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences of the University of Belgrade, as part of the TROPHY project.

As part of the online lecture held on 8 September, Heliant introduced students to the process of designing and developing healthcare applications, with particular emphasis on the specific characteristics of the healthcare system and the challenges development teams face when creating digital solutions in this field.

The lecture was delivered by our Medical Associate, Dr Etir Chalabi, who used a methodological approach to present how the concept of an application was developed – from the initial idea through to the creation of a prototype.

From Idea to Healthcare Application Development

The aim of the lecture was to help students gain a better understanding of healthcare domain requirements, user needs, and the various constraints that needed to be taken into consideration when developing applications intended for the healthcare sector.

Using a work methodology as an example, the lecture presented the key steps in the application development process, the results obtained at individual stages, as well as the various roles and stakeholders involved in creating a digital solution.

Particular emphasis was placed on important aspects of healthcare application development – from securing stakeholder support and involving relevant participants in the development process, through data protection and security, to planning integrations with other information systems and organizing implementation and user support processes.

Practical Challenges as Inspiration for New Solutions

The second part of the lecture focused on several current challenges in the healthcare sector that requireed appropriate solutions. Students were also presented with a type of application they could potentially work on, enabling them to apply their IT knowledge to a specific challenge in the healthcare sector.

The Summer School was attended primarily by students of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences from different years of study, as well as students from partner universities across the region and Europe. Participants included students from Serbia, Croatia, Portugal, and Romania, primarily studying information technology and related disciplines.

Through activities of this kind, Heliant aims to bring young professionals closer to the real-world challenges of developing healthcare information systems and demonstrate the importance of combining technological expertise with a strong understanding of the needs of the healthcare system in order to create high-quality solutions.

Heliant’s participation in the Summer School continues the company’s cooperation with the Faculty of Organizational Sciences and its activities within the TROPHY project, following the previous participation of our representatives on the expert committee at the TROPHY MED Hackathon and a lecture delivered by Heliant at the FON Summer School in 2025.
