As part of the global Girls in ICT Day initiative, celebrated this year on April 23, students from “France Prešern” Primary School visited Heliant to gain first-hand insight into the world of information technology in healthcare.
The visit was organized within a broader initiative led by the Association of Business Women in Serbia under the slogan “AI for Development: Girls Creating the Digital Future.” The initiative aims at encouraging girls in the final years of primary school to consider careers in IT by introducing them to the opportunities the industry offers through visits to companies where women hold significant professional roles.
During their visit to Heliant, the students learned how a modern healthcare IT company operated and heard first-hand experiences from women working in a variety of roles, including software development, project management, and reporting. Through interactive presentations and discussions, the girls discovered how technology was transforming healthcare and gained valuable insight into career opportunities in the field.
A key focus of the visit was challenging stereotypes about “male” and “female” professions and encouraging the students to follow their own interests and talents when choosing their future careers. This reflected one of the main goals of Girls in ICT Day—to inspire more girls to pursue education and careers in STEM by connecting them with successful women working in the technology sector.
Each year, initiatives like this bring together a growing number of schools and companies across Serbia, creating opportunities for knowledge sharing, inspiration, and the empowerment of future generations. The visit of students from “France Prešern” Primary School to Heliant marks another step toward building a more inclusive and diverse technological future.
