The laboratory information system Infolab LIS is a software system developed by the company “Infolab” that provides simple, automated and efficient laboratory work.
More than 20 years of experience in the development and implementation of IT solutions contributed to our becoming the largest implementer of laboratory information systems for private institutions in Serbia and the region. Our current focus is increasing the number of clients from the private sector.
One of the biggest advantages of our laboratory information system is a standardized interface that enables integration with other information systems, especially those that enable keeping an electronic health record. In this way, laboratories are provided with the possibility of receiving instructions for the patient, as well as sending back and placing the verified result in the patient’s record.
Integration into the global system
Full integration with the health information system Heliant allows doctors to see the results of analysis in a minute or two after they are finished, in digital format, without unnecessary paperwork. This integration is especially useful in emergency departments, where it is important to get the results as soon as possible. In addition to the possibility of integration with the institution’s health information system, the Infolab LIS system can also work independently.
Infolab LIS includes five laboratory modules: biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, transfusiology and genetics. Through integration with laboratory devices, complete automation of laboratory work is enabled – from sample entry to result verification and creation of patient reports, while two-way communication with laboratory devices enables sending requests to the device and processing results from the device. In this way, the business processes of the laboratory are optimized: data generation is accelerated, queues are reduced, manual steps are removed and the possibility of human and technical error is reduced.
A large number of implementations
Infolab LIS is implemented in more than 140 healthcare institutions and connected to more than 900 laboratory devices. Over 25,000 patients per day pass through the system and more than 1,000,000 samples are processed per month.
The largest private clinics that use LIS are Euromedik and MediGroup. Under the auspices of the MediGroup system, we have included 84 laboratories in different locations throughout Serbia. We are particularly proud of the addition of the Konzilium laboratory chain to our system as part of MediGroup, for whose needs, after several months of development, the upgrade of the existing modules was completed in order to enable continuous cooperation with partner laboratories abroad.
Among the private clinics that use Infolab LIS in Montenegro, we would highlight the MojLab and SmartMed polyclinics in Podgorica.
Polyclinic MojLab has been using LIS since 2021. From the beginning of the work of their laboratory, our software provided them with all the necessary support.
“Laboratory information system is one of the supporting pillars of every modern laboratory, and the MojLab Laboratory took its first steps with the support of Infolab LIS. It provides additional quality to laboratory services through a quality control system, minimal possibility of error in pre-analytical stages, adjusted reference values, reduced turnaround time, monitoring of laboratory work in real time, patient history, input of comments, interpretation of results, etc. In addition to a number of superb features, Infolab LIS is also web-oriented, which enables easy access from any location through a secure connection. The system is ‘alive’, in a constant process of upgrading in accordance with the needs of its users”, says MD Najdana Gligorović Barhanović, spec. med. of biochemistry from MojLab Polyclinic.
SmartMed implemented LIS in 2022, to our mutual satisfaction, and they shared with us positive impressions about the use of our software in their daily work: “The Infolab LIS helped us a lot in setting up and operating our laboratory. It eliminated the possibility of replacing samples, speeded up the time of issuing results and made our results legible and clear for our patients!”, says MD Jovana
Stojić, spec. med. of biochemistry at the SmartMed Polyclinic.
Also in public institutions
In addition to private institutions, LIS is also used by a large number of public institutions throughout Serbia and the region, including more than 70 health centers, 18 general hospitals, 10 institutes, 10 institutions, 7 special hospitals, 5 clinical hospital centers (UCCS, Dragiša Mišović, Zvezdara, Zemun and Bežanijska kosa), 4 clinical centers (CCS, CC Kragujevac, CC Niš and CC Montenegro) and a dozen other institutions.
A major undertaking that we completed last year was the complete networking of the Mačvan district. We introduced the microbiology module in the Public Health Institute Šabac and connected it with other institutions in the municipalities of Mačva – Bogatić, Ljubovija, Koceljeva, Krupanj, Vladimirci and Mali Zvornik. In this way, electronic submission of instructions from health institutions to PHI Šabac was made possible, as well as submission of verified results to the health institution in the patient’s record.
“The Public Health Institute Šabac is the first public health institution that, by introducing the most modern laboratory information system, enabled all primary and secondary health care institutions to be integrated into a single system with the help of our partner, Heliant. If we directly observe the process, which previously functioned exclusively in paper form, today it is automated by receiving an electronic instruction, but also by sending verified results from our experts in the shortest possible time, which has reduced the ‘manual’ steps and the possibility of human and technical error to the minimum”, points out MD Branko Vujković, director of PHI Šabac.
Another public institution where we implemented LIS is the Institute for Public Health of Vojvodina, which we can safely say is one of the largest microbiological installations if we look at the number of processed samples. The integration of PHI Vojvodina with PH Novi Sad and PH Vrbas is underway, with the aim of more efficient exchange of results that will be placed directly in the patient’s record, so that the doctor in the health center can immediately see the finished results. In a month or two, it is expected that between 800 and 1,000 results will be placed directly in the patient’s record, thus eliminating the patient’s obligation to carry paper documentation.
