On the occasion of the International Girls’ Day in the sector of information and communication technologies (ICT), the company “Heliant” hosted the 7th and 8th grade 7. the 7th and 8th grade students of the Elementary School “Goračići” from the village of the same name near the town of Lučani, students from the Elementary School “Petar Petrović Njegoš” from Belgrade and Elementary School “Šandor Petefi” from Novi Sad.
During the virtual visit, the girls, with the help of female Heliant experts, learned about the role of information technology in healthcare, how a high-tech company like “Heliant” operated and were familiarized with Heliant products used by healthcare facilities and other institutions.
Women in management positions and the women engaged in programming activities in the company “Heliant” revealed the most interesting details from their careers, explained why they loved their job and what the challenges women were facing in the ITC sector.
The guests were introduced to the module in the Heliant health information system eUpis (E-enrolment), which was developed to support the process of enrolling students in high school education.
They were also presented the Company’s innovative projects, as well as the future of the application of information technology in healthcare. On the example of the Heliant multidisciplinary team, the guests could see the complexity of the process and how the professions were intertwined during the development of Heliant products.
Virtual visits of students in the final grades of elementary schools are organized in companies in the ICT sector, companies in which women perform managerial functions and which develop business with companies owned by women or female entrepreneurs.
The goal is to motivate and encourage girls for future career choices through conversations with female executives and entrepreneurs, eliminating gender stereotypes.
The International Girls’ Day in the sector for information and communication technologies is marked with the support of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, under the honorary patronage of the Prime Minister, Ana Brnabić.
The Institutional support for the event organized by the Association of Business Women of Serbia is provided by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Commissioner for Equality, UN Women, German organization “GIZ”, The UN International Telecommunication Union and the portal “European SME Week”.
