During the coronavirus epidemic, the company “Heliant” made the “Hermes Covid” platform available to healthcare facilities in Serbia for fast exchange of messages through medical systems in times of crisis, as stated on the website of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The EBRD writes that Heliant is the leading software provider in Serbia, specializing in health systems, and reminds that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Fund for Development and Innovation in Entrepreneurship in the Western Balkans have previously supported Heliant as co-financiers for establishing the new web portal.

As the epidemic spreads, Heliant’s extensive experience working with a large number of healthcare facilities has made the company and its software experts an obvious choice in support to coronavirus efforts, the EBRD says in its statement.

By using “Hermes Covid” more than 30.000 physicians and nurses can receive messages and instructions from the crisis management team in real time, states the statement.

The EBRD quotes Heliant manager Vojislav Macić saying that Heliant was “doing its best to help combat the pandemic” and that “today’s rapid advances in medicine emphasize the need for a strong IT infrastructure that supports both treatment and innovation”.

“Our success would not be possible without the people who make up Heliant,” Mr Macić told the EBRD, adding that “courage, commitment and hard work have turned our vision into reality.”

In the text, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development reminds of the very beginnings of work on the ambitious project of developing specialized software for healthcare facilities in Serbia in the 1990s, which was worked on by a group of students and professors at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade.

The EBRD states that this team persevered and broke the ice by working on new technologies that were ahead of their time.

Even then, it was discovered that software in healthcare was limited to only one branch of medicine and that it was difficult to apply it elsewhere.

Heliant set itself the goal of developing a flexible platform capable of responding to the needs of specialized healthcare facilities and larger hospitals, such as Heliant Health software, which integrated the data from multiple sources within the same healthcare facility, supporting both physician-patient interaction.

Heliant’s software has automated processes within healthcare facilities and thus facilitated work to healthcare professionals, leaving them time to focus on what is most important, states the text of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development about Heliant.
