This year, the company “Heliant” participated for the third time in the “Girls in the ICT” event. Twelve schoolgirls from the Elementary School “Veljko Dugošević” from Belgrade visited our company today to learn about information technologies in healthcare and the work of women in this field.

Schoolgirls from the Elementary School “Veljko Dugošević” were familiarized with the activities carried out by the company “Heliant”  while discussing with women employed in various positions in the fields of science, information technology, project management, research and development… The employees told the girls about their professions, why they chose those jobs, what a typical working day looked like and cooperation with colleagues, about the advantages and disadvantages of the jobs they performed, challenges they faced and everything else that our guests were interested in.

In order to introduce them to our Heliant health information system, we showed the girls the eUpis module, which was used during medical examinations to enrole students in high school. Then the students told us about their interests, hobbies, favourite subjects at school and what they would like to do for living one day.

The International Girls in the ICT Day was established at the level of the United Nations and is celebrated every fourth Thursday in April. At the national level, it has been organized by the Association of Business Women of Serbia for 14 years, under the auspices of the Government of Serbia. The idea is that through conversations with female managers and entrepreneurs, female pupils in the final grades of elementary schools are motivated for their future career choice. They are learnt not to be burdened with stereotypes, but guided by their personal interests and talents when it comes to career choice.

This year, the company “Heliant” is participating in this event for the third time, and we hope that it will become a tradition.
