“We have all been reborn, the working conditions of the medical staff and the healthcare facility as a whole have improved, we are much more efficient,” says the director of the Special Hospital for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Neurology half a year after the implementation of the Heliant health information system.

Since May, the Special Hospital for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Neurology in Belgrade has been using the Heliant health information system, and the director, MD Danijela Baščarević, regards this a great success of this reputable healthcare facility.

Speaking for the portal heliant.rs, MD Baščarević says she is proud of that change, which she advocated since she became the head of the hospital, a year and a half ago, as she knew that this information system was used by most of the healthcare facilities in the country.

It wasn’t easy – MD Baščarević says that changes in state healthcare facilities sometimes are implemented slowly, procedures take months, optical Internet should have been introduced. Therefore she thinks that the completion of this process is a great victory for their facility’s operations.

Six months after the implementation of the new information system, the director of the Special Hospital points out that she, like all the other employees at the hospital, are delighted with how much it has helped them to improve their work.

“We have all been reborn, the working conditions of the medical staff and staff who do invoicing, statistical reports… the healthcare facility as a whole have improved. The management of medical records and health documentation have been significantly improved with the implementation of Heliant IS. The most important thing is that the quality of health care has improved since we are much more efficient,” says MD Baščarević.

It is well-known that a doctor in Serbia spends an average of three and a half to four hours a day performing administrative tasks. The director of the Special Hospital says that before the implementation of Heliant IS in this healthcare facility, it was even longer.

“I am also a doctor and I work with patients like other doctors, I can tell you that now it takes up to a maximum of two hours a day. We are a very specific healthcare facility, we have a large number of health associates – speech therapists, speech pathologists… – whose reports we have to incorporate in ours. Before, it was all performed manually, and now it is just taken out from the system, and/or from the shared patient record. Everything is incomparably faster,” says MD Danijela Baščarević.

“What I really like about the company ‘Heliant’ is that it treats work extremely professionally. Our information system is adapted to the healthcare facility which has its own specificities, and we also work at two locations. All the suggestions we had were quickly implemented, while the person in charge of our facility solves the problems the same day we report them,” adds the director of the Special Hospital.

As of the New Year, they plan to introduce Moneo, a business information system. First of all, it will improve the pharmacy operations.

“We can’t wait for the implementation of Moneo IS, and then our operations will be completely digitally supported,” says MD Danijela Baščarević, director of the Special Hospital for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Neurology in Belgrade.
