Serbian Patient Forum, a non-profit association founded with the aim of empowering, educating and improving the position of patients, organized a meeting called “Together we are stronger – Voice of patients” yesterday. A panel discussion on the topic of improving the position of patients in Serbia, held at the “Parobrod” cultural institution, was opened by Gorica Đokić, Vice President of the Serbian Patient Forum.

The panel was attended by Vukašin Radulović, partner in the company “Heliant”, MD/PhD Katarina Lalić, specialist in endocrinology at the University Clinical Centre of Serbia (UCCS), MD/PhD Lazar Popović, specialist in internal medicine – oncologist at the Institute of Oncology of Vojvodina, Pharm. spec. Jelena Mitrašinović from the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of Serbia (ALIMS) and Ana Dornik, founder of the association “Žena uz ženu”. Ana Stamenković, RTS journalist, moderated the panel discussions.

The panellists emphasized how important it was to organize such forums, to strengthen patient associations and to be informed in a timely manner. The representative of the company “Heliant”, a leader in the field of digitization in healthcare, explained why digitization was a prerequisite for better availability of advanced therapies that would enable greater involvement of patients in the treatment process itself, as well as to what extent the availability and development of therapies depended on digital transformation. The participants made suggestions of how patient associations could better accept the idea of digitization, appreciate it and implement it in their actions so their voice could be heard more strongly and that they could better fight for their rights.
